I continue to learn about boundaries.
I gave my son the window seat, so he took this picture. It was fun to see his perspective. I find it interesting when I’m flying over the clouds and looking out, that I see no boundaries. Nothing and everything at the same time. We are one earth. We are gasses out in space. Floating stardust.
While inside the plane, I feel a sense of camaraderie with the fellow passengers on this plane. We are in this magical flying bus in the sky together. And yet, it feels dirty, full of germs and chemical smells and I keep wondering why my son keeps touching the seat and then wiping it on me. He thinks this is funny. There is a part of me that looks at oncoming passengers and I can see their unique beauty as they arrive onto the plane. I look in their eyes. I smile. Some feel angry, some sad, some excited. And then the moment they start hogging that middle armrest and my personal space, I’m a different person.
Boundaries are my self care in this space.
I see a river below, in Mexico… Manny snaps another picture. This river forms a natural boundary. Designed to add value to what’s around it. I can see land for miles. All lines and boundaries begin to blur. The walls we must build do not live outside of us, they live within and we must start our work there.
