I’m going to get straight to it today. I’ve been creating something for awhile now, working on it, growing, getting better, learning, falling on my face. Tweaking things. Wanting to throw in the towel and then procrastinating because of fear mostly. Then getting back up and trying again.
I’m going to share more about this with you soon.
Here is the thing…
It got me thinking about our health A LOT.
Literally… every single day.
I’ve been thinking about YOU and what frustrates you…
What you struggle with.
What keeps you avoiding the mirror.
What keeps you standing in front of the fridge searching for something to eat that you don’t even know exists because you are avoiding what does…
What drives you to keep showing up when you don’t really want to…
They say often:
“How you do one thing, is how you do everything…”
For me and many of my clients, this has been the reality… our relationship with food and body can sometimes reflect our relationships with business, career or other people.
And one of the root issues I see time and time again that holds people back from their health and life goals…
wait for it……..
I grew up idolizing perfectionism and now I can see that the culture we live in today, very much idolizes it too.
I equated perfectionism with success.
I also equated success with my value.
So, if I wasn’t perfect then I wasn’t successful and therefore I was not valued enough.
My old story was that, “I am not enough if I’m not perfect”
I was waiting to be happy when everything finally looked perfect.
And perfect never came.
When you equate your value with a definition of success that is based on an illusion (aka ‘perfectionism’), you will be stuck in a cycle of delusion.
You’ll feel defeated, overwhelmed and like there is something missing.
I decided to utilize the experience and commitment of a business launch to put into deeper practice what I’ve been practicing with my health and wellness for many years and that is to weave it like a basket vs control it.
I’ve never weaved an actual basket!!!
But, I do know this.
You start weaving at the BASE.
And the reeds you use BEND, they DO NOT BREAK.
- You got grounded and got your healthy foundation together?
- You remembered that you can BEND to the extreme but that you will never fully BREAK.
- You had fun and laughed more?
- You brought the most intention and bliss and light into each thing you did?
I’m doing these very things right now (and not perfectly, I might add).
I’ve been incredible at bringing the grounded foundation and light for my clients for a decade now.
What I haven’t been so good at was doing that for community at large.
I was inconsistent at showing up.
It turns out that letting myself be seen by more people was a fear I had.
When I discovered this connection, I had to sit down and really contemplate where I have been in my life and where I’m going next.
And it wasn’t lost on me that this connection is SO similar to how we are with our relationship to food and body.
My questions for you, [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]:
Where do you not show up consistently?
Where are you avoiding being seen?
Where are you getting stuck in perfectionism and not taking action at all or doing something and then stopping short before you finished?
What if you looked at bringing your best to all that you did in a bigger way?
Remember, this is going to look different from time to time.
IT WON’T BE PERFECT!
What if you stopped hiding out a bit in your life and let yourself be seen just as you are, right now?
This is a love letter to both YOU and ME.
